A portion of Yuloko Guest House's proceeds goes to fund the education of sangha (monks and nuns) in Nepal. Since we only started operating from February 2023, we do not see any profits currently.
Nonetheless, for a start, we are featuring Tharpa Choeling Nunnery anis (nuns) residing in Kagyud Institute of Buddhist Studies located in Kirtipur, Nepal. Located about 15 minutes drive from Yuloko Guest House, it is home to quite a number of anis of various ages.
For years, the anis have been producing a variety of incense by hand, in a small workshop within the institute. This is to support themselves a bit, under the guidance of their abbot Shangpa Rinpoche. They pride themselves in using only the best ingredients possible, sourced from various holy sites of Nepal.
For instance, their Samadhi incense in the form of sticks, cones and powder is made from a myriad of rare and precious medicinal substances from the Himalayan region. Amongst them are carefully collected herbs from Tsurphu Mountain where the first Karma's hair was strewn; herbs from Namtso Lake where many great Kagyu Masters did their life-long retreats and Juniper from Radreng where Atisha, the great Kadampa master had blessed the land. In addition, herbs from Garden, as well as various herbs from Muktinath and other holy places that were blessed by many great masters of the past and present. Together with these holy substances are sixty vital ingredients that are traditionally used for invocation and offering of fragrances to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
Please support them. Thank you.
